Women's Basketball Tries to Continue Winning Streak Thursday at SIUE

COLLINSVILLE, Ill
. – The Morehead State women's basketball looks to tally off its sixth-consecutive victory on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. ET when it faces off with Ohio Valley Conference foe SIUE at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Ill.
 
The Eagles enter the matchup with a 15-6 overall mark and have worked to a 6-2 record in the OVC.
 
The Cougars, who have lost two consecutive games, host MSU with a 9-10 overall record and a 4-4 mark against conference opponents.
 
The game will be streamed on ESPN+. Emma Tiedemann will call the action on the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety Eagle Sports Network 96.3-FM WIVY.
 
GAME NOTES
 
THE SIUE SERIES
Morehead State and SIUE have met 12 times since SIUE joined the Ohio Valley Conference in 2008-09. The teams have split the meetings 6-6. The Cougars won the last matchup in Edwardsville, 90-81, on January 14, 2016.
 
LAST MEETING WITH THE COUGARS
SIUE came to Morehead on Jan. 6, 2018 of last season and left with a 66-51 win. The Cougars knocked off the Eagles with a hot-shooting performance (23-of-47, .489) paced by Sydney Bauman who tallied 12 points & eight rebounds. The Eagles made just 22-of-67 (.328) shots and were led by Miranda Crockett who scored a game-high 15 points.
 
PROGRAM MILESTONE
A win over the Cougars on Thursday would mark the program's 600th victory. MSU, which began women's hoops in 1970-71, is currently 599-658 all time.
 
TAKING THE LEAGUE BY STORM
Junior guard Aliyah Jeune was named the OVC's Newcomer of the Week for the fifth time of the 2018-19 season on Tuesday. Jeune won the award after averaging 19.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in the Eagles' wins over Tennessee Tech & Jacksonville State a week ago. Jeune, who transferred to MSU after spending two seasons at Rutgers, currently leads the league in scoring with 19.3 points per game. Jeune is also the only player in the nation that has started in less than 10-percent of her games (20GP-2GS) and leads their respective conference in scoring.
 
CLIMBING IN THE RECORD BOOKS
Senior guard Miranda Crockett's 18-point outing on Thursday against Tennessee Tech raised her career-points tally to 1,592 points which are tied for seventh all-time in MSU history in Bev Smith (1988-93). The Martinsville, Va., native is a mere 11 points away from taking over the fifth-place spot from Tasha Gales (1999-2003, 1,602). Crockett has scored in double figures in 25-consecutive games dating back to February 15, 2018, at Tennessee State.

Aliyah Jeune nabbed her third collegesportsmadness .com Player of the Week award following wins over Tennessee Tech & Jacksonville State a week ago. Jeune averaged 19 points & nailed a career-best tying six triples against Tech on her way to winning the award.
 
PICKING UP VOTES
The Eagles earned five votes in the collegeinsider.com mid-major top-25 poll which was released on Monday. The poll is voted on by a select group of mid-major coaches. The Eagles knocked off previously 23rd-ranked Tennessee Tech last Thursday.
