EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Despite holding a 16-point lead in the first half, Morehead State men's basketball saw host SIU Edwardsville nail 65 percent of its shots in the second half as the Cougars rallied past MSU 83-76 Thursday at the Vadalabene Center.
The Eagles slipped to 8-14 and 4-5 in the OVC, while SIUE (which has only defeated MSU three times now) moved to 7-14 overall and 3-6 in the league.
Junior guard
Jordan Walker registered a game-high 22 points, his eighth game of 20 or more this season.
Morehead State built its largest lead (34-18) with 5:32 left in the first half. SIUE proceeded to use a 11-0 run to cut the game to 34-29 before the Eagles held a 40-32 halftime cushion.
In the second half, SIUE finally gained a 64-63 lead at the 7:21 mark and never relinquished it. The Cougars hit 17-of-26 field goal attempts in the final half. Overall, the Eagles managed to shoot 39 percent while the home squad shot it at a 56-percent clip.
For MSU, sophomore guard
De'Von Cooper also reached double figures with 14 markers (two shy of his career high), while sophomore
James Baker totaled 10.
