MOREHEAD, Ky. – After wrapping non-conference play Tuesday night, Morehead State volleyball continues Ohio Valley Conference play this weekend. The Eagles (14-5, 5-1 OVC) hit the road for the second time in league play, travelling to Southeast Missouri (12-8, 4-2) and UT Martin (6-14, 2-4).

Morehead State enters the weekend after claiming an OVC weekly award for the sixth of seven weeks during the 2019 season, having collected eight weekly awards in total this season. Sophomore middle blocker Mia Swearingen garnered co-Defensive Player of the Week honors after tallying 11 total blocks against Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay last weekend, averaging an OVC-best 1.57 blocks per set.

The honor marks the first of Swearingen's career while also marking the first OVC Defensive Player of the Week honoree for the Eagles since 2017. Against Austin Peay, she totaled a career-best eight total blocks, helping Morehead State to a season-best 14.0 team total blocks. Swearingen also added 25 kills last week, including a career-high 14 kills against the Governors.

Much like Swearingen, junior outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier enters the weekend following a major career milestone. Collecting 21 kills against West Virginia Tuesday, Lohmeier collected her 1,000th career kills, becoming the 20th member of the 1,000 kill club at Morehead State. Additionally, she ranks top-15 in the NCAA in six different offensive categories, including ranking fifth in the country in total kills with 343.

Freshman setter Bridget Bessler enters the Eagles' road trip after passing out 46 assists in four sets Tuesday, an average of 11.5 assists per set. She ranks 18th in the NCAA, dishing out 10.98 assists per set, as she's the only freshman in the nation to rank top-25 in the category. On the season, Bessler has tallied 648 assists in 29 sets.

In service, Morehead State ranks second in the OVC in team service aces, landing 115 on the season. The Eagles have also lead the league in opponent's service aces, committing only 51 reception errors this season. Morehead State also leads the conference in service ace margin, owning a +64 margin, besting the next closest team by +37.

Morehead State faces Southeast Missouri Friday evening before travelling to face UT Martin Saturday. Match times are set for 6 p.m. ET and 12 p.m.
