Soccer Ready For Pivitol OVC Matchup Against Govs
MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State Soccer team looks to gain ground in the Ohio Valley Conference and put an end to a four-game skid on Friday evening when they travel to Austin Peay for a 6:00 p.m. ET matchup against the Governors at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.

The Eagles currently sit at 4-10-1 overall while their OVC record is 2-4-1.

Austin Peay, which has won two of its last three matches, possess a 3-7-3 overall tally and a showing of 2-3-1 against league competition.

In the league standings, MSU and APSU have accumulated seven points (3 per win, 1 per tie) and locked in a three-way tie with Eastern Illinois for seventh place.

Friday's match serves as an important battle ground for both squads as they look to move up in the standings and cement their position in the OVC Championship Tournament. The tournament field, which begins on Nov. 1 at campus locations, is made up of the top-eight teams in the final standings.

"We have a great opportunity to gain some ground if we come out and compete for 90 minutes," said MSU head coach Warren Lipka. "Our team has really been banged with injuries over the past couple weeks but we put in a good week of preparation - now we have to come out and execute confidently on the road. It's an important match and I think we're ready."

Morehead State leads the all-time series against Austin Peay with a 12-3-3 advantage. In 2018, the Eagles defeated the Govs at home in shutout fashion, 1-0.

Live statistics will be available on MSUEagles.com. The match will not be broadcast or streamed.
