MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State Women's Basketball team was voted seventh in the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll, the league announced Tuesday morning during its Media Day event in Evansville, Ind.
The seventh-place predicted finish is the lowest the Eagles have been slotted in the poll since being picked 10
th prior to the 2016-17 season. During that season, Morehead State finished second in the league's final standings with an 11-5 record and earned a berth into the Women's National Invitational Tournament.
Belmont, who has won four-straight OVC Championship Tournaments, was chosen as the preseason favorite and received 14 first-place votes. UT Martin finished second with nine first-place votes while Tennessee Tech finished third with one first-place vote.
Bruins senior forward Ellie Harmeyer was chosen as the OVC Preseason Player of the Year.
The poll and player of the year are voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
