MOREHEAD, Ky. –
In a meeting of two of the oldest volleyball programs in Ohio Valley Conference history, Morehead State volleyball hosts in-state rival Eastern Kentucky Wednesday night (6 p.m. ET). The Eagles (12-4, 3-1 OVC) enter owning a 52-24 all-time advantage over the Colonels (6-12, 1-3).

Morehead State enters Wednesday's match against Eastern Kentucky winners of the last three meetings in the series. The Eagles three-game streak ended a skid of eight consecutive losses to the Colonels. Last season, Morehead State swept both meetings.

Junior outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier claimed her third OVC Offensive Player of the Week award this week after collecting a league-best 49 kills (5.44 per set) while hitting .328 as the Eagles split a pair of matches with Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State last weekend. On the season, she ranks top-25 in six different offensive categories, including four which find her ranked in the top-10, including kills per set (eighth; 4.85), total kills (eighth; 291), points (10th; 315.5), and points per set (10th; 5.26).

Joining Lohmeier in the top-25 of the NCAA rankings, freshman setter Bridget Bessler ranks 25th in the country in assists per set, averaging 10.81 per set. Bessler continues to be the only true freshman setter in the nation to rank in the top-25 in the category while also being one of only two freshmen to find herself in the top-25. Across 48 sets this season, she has passed out 519 helpers while adding 85 digs and 25 kills.

As a team, Morehead State ranks among the best in the nation in kills and assists per set, ranking 21st and 22nd, respectively. On the year, the Eagles have recorded 831 kills (13.85 per set) while chipping in 775 assists (12.92 per set). Overall, only 56 of the team's kills have not included an assist as Morehead State has assisted on 93 percent of its kills this season.

The Eagles also continue to press the service game as Morehead State ranks second in the OVC in both team service aces and service aces per set. The team has landed 99 aces (1.65 per set) this season as five of the team's six primary servers have recorded 10 or more aces on the season. Sophomores Olivia Montelisciani and Allison Whitten pace the Eagles with 25 and 21 aces, respectively, as they have both eclipsed their season service ace total from a year ago.

Wednesday night's match will be Morehead State's "Spike Out the Stigma" Match as the Eagles, in conjunction with the OVC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee seeks to start the conversation and break the negative stigma surrounding mental health. During the match, Morehead State's Student Government Association and SAAC have collaborated to pass out green bracelets that read "Spike Out the Stigma."
