MOREHEAD, Ky. – With the regular season set to come to a close, Morehead State volleyball is preparing for one final road trip. The Eagles (21-7, 12-3 OVC) travel to in-state rival Murray State (17-10, 11-4) Saturday for the final match of the 2019 regular season.

Morehead State enters the weekend off a straight-set sweep of another in-state rival, defeating foe Eastern Kentucky Wednesday night. The victory over the Colonels equaled the Eagles' win total from last season (21) while also exceeding last year's Ohio Valley Conference win total.

Junior outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier enters Saturday's match as the reigning OVC Offensive Player of the Week, winning the honor for the fourth time this season. Against Eastern Kentucky Wednesday night, she tallied 19 kills, upping her season total to 495 kills. With five more kills, Lohmeier would become the eighth player in program history to reach 500 kills in a season.

With 16 kills against the Colonels, junior outside hitter Lauren Rokey accomplished a significant feat as well. With 315 kills on the year, she has totaled 300 or more kills in three straight seasons, becoming just the fourth Eagle to do so in the 25-Point Rally Scoring Era (2008-present). Rokey joins Aryn Bohannon (2011-13), Kaitlin Craven (2008-10), and Ellie Roberson (2010-12) as the lone Eagles with 300 or more kills in back-to-back-to-back seasons since 2008.

Accumulating 14.3 assists per set (43 assists in three sets) Wednesday night, freshman setter Bridget Bessler continued her strong rookie campaign. Averaging 11.38 assists per set, she ranks 14th in the NCAA in the category while being one of just two freshmen in the country to rank in the top-25. On the year, Bessler has passed out 979 assists, needing just 21 to become the 14th setter in program history to reach 1,000 career assists.

Sophomore libero Allison Whitten scooped up an additional 17 balls against Eastern Kentucky, running her season tally to 439 digs. On the season, she has averaged 4.30 assists per set, the highest per set total for an Eagle since Leslie Schellhaas (5.23 digs per set) in 2013.

In service, sophomore defensive specialist Olivia Montelisciani has recorded 39 service aces on the season. She needs just one service ace to become the first server since Courtney Smith in 2013 to reach 40 service aces in a season. Montelisciani and Whitten (33 service aces) also combine as the first set of teammates since Bohannon, Smith, and Lindsey Roth in 2013 to each have 30 or more service aces in a season.
