Men's Hoops Uses Multiple Career Highs to Race Past Alice Lloyd (Ky.)

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Career highs in many stat categories from multiple players propelled the Morehead State men's basketball team to a 102-46 triumph over Alice Lloyd (Ky.) Saturday at Johnson Arena.

The MSU Eagles improved to 6-7 heading into Ohio Valley Conference play this week.

Sophomore guard Malik Riddle (21), freshman guard Ta'lon Cooper (20) and junior guard Justin Thomas (18) all re-wrote their career high sheet in points. Senior guard Djimon Henson continued his hot streak with his first career double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Riddle also completed a solid floor game with a career-best eight rebounds, while Cooper handed out a career-best six dimes.

Thomas directed the offense to 53 percent (41-of-78) shooting by also dishing out six assists while grabbing seven boards and swiping three steals.

Freshman Julius Dixon (8) tied his career high in points, while sophomore forward Jaden Stanley-Williams rounded out the career-high point outputs at six.

KEY MOMENTS

- The game turned at the 9:14 mark of the first half when Thomas collected a fast break lay-in to bust up a 21-21 stalemate. That sparked a 15-0 run, capped by sophomore forward LJ Bryan's bucket with 5:13 left.
- MSU led 48-30 at the half.
- Riddle's slam dunk with 1:41 left in game allowed the Eagles to hit the century mark.

KEY STATS

- MSU was able to balance its five on the floor well against the ALC Eagles. Cooper played the top minute total at 28.
- The host Eagles held a substantial 56-31 rebounding edge.
- MSU scored 62 points in the paint and had 55 points via the non starting five.
- The Eagles rank eight three pointers and have now canned 18 triples in the last two games.
- Cooper was perfect shooting today, going 7-of-7 from the field and 2-of-2 from distance.
