MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State football program has announced the addition of three junior college transfers who will join the program for the 2019 season.
The latest additions are a pair from Santa Ana (Calif.) College in
Skyler Finley and
DJ Niculescu Jr. along with Nassau (N.Y.) Community College transfer
Vincent Winey.
Finley, a 6-1, 200-pound defender, played defensive back at Santa Ana. He piled up 59 tackles in 2017 and 2018, including four in the backfield. Finley also forced two fumbles and recovered three. Finley was named Metro League Second-Team All-Conference in 2018.
A native of Corona, Calif, he went to Santiago High School.
Niculescu, a product of Corona High School, is a 6-0, 220-pound linebacker. He totaled 61 career tackles in his two seasons at Santa Ana, including five for losses in 2018. During that season, he had 45 tackles and a sack.
Winey, a 6-1, 235-pound linebacker, ranked second on the team at Nassau with 73 total stops in 2018. He was a force on the line, making 10.5 tackles in the backfield. He also broke up two passes, forced a fumble and blocked a kick. He helped NCC win the Red Grange Bowl.
A native of Lindenhurst, N.Y., Winey prepped at Lindenhurst High School.
This trio will join several incoming freshmen (who will be announced later this year) as additions for the 2019 season.
