Women's Golf's Connolly Claims OVC Golfer of the Week Honors
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Continuing a streak that started when the program returned to the links in 2009, Morehead State women's golf has secured an Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the 11th straight season. Redshirt sophomore Bridget Connolly claimed co-OVC Golfer of the Week honors—splitting with Jacksonville State's Paula Vega—to give the program its 39th all-time Golfer of the Week.

Connolly secured her second top-five finish of the season at the Amelia Island Collegiate (Feb. 18-19), tying for fourth in a loaded field. The finish also marked the Auckland, New Zealand native's fifth top-10 finish this season, a mark that tops the squad.

"The team and I are proud of Bridget, her hard work, and this well-deserved recognition," said head coach Stephanie Barker. Her steady play against a high-caliber field, challenging course, and a variety of conditions are really impressive."

Connolly shot out of the gates early at the Amelia Island Collegiate, tying for second following the event's opening round, fashioning a season-best and career-low tying 70. She followed in round two, firing a 75 and dropping down the leaderboard, sitting tied for seventh entering the final round. Connolly responded, marking down a 76 and jumping up the leaderboard to tie for fourth, finishing the event with a three-round total of 221.

"Bridget's efforts to improve all facets of her game is inspiring to our team and her coaches," concluded Barker.

Connolly and the Eagles return to the course, hosting the MSU Citrus Challenge on March 17-19. The three-day event will take place at the RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.
