MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Looking to gain momentum heading into the postseason, Morehead State men's basketball will make the short trek to Eastern Kentucky's McBrayer Arena Saturday night. The Eagles and Colonels tip off at 7 p.m. ET in the regular season finale.
The game will air live on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety Eagle Sports Radio Network on WIVY-96.3 FM.
Morehead State (11-19/7-10 OVC) will face an EKU team it has already triumphed over this season, a 78-72 win for the Eagles on Feb. 14 at home. The Colonels (13-17/6-11 OVC) need a win to guarantee an OVC Tournament berth.
GAME NOTES
THE SERIES WITH THE COLONELS
Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky have met 187 times since 1930-31, MSU's longest-running series. The Eagles trail the Colonels 101-86, but Morehead State has won six of the last seven in the series. The Eagles have won the last four meetings in Johnson Arena and two of the last three in Richmond.
WE'RE IN
Despite the setback to Murray State Thursday, Morehead State has assured itself it will be one of the eight teams participating in the OVC Tournament at the Ford Center In Evansville, Ind., next week. The Eagles could either be the fifth through eighth seed though depending on results Saturday and a myriad of tiebreakers.
TRENDS AND TIDBITS
Jordan Walker has reached double-figures in points in 20 of the last 22 games ...
A.J. Hicks' assist total of 168 this season is the fifth best single-season assist mark in program history ... Hicks' 290 career assists is now 10th in program history, needing nine more to catch Angelo Warner's 299 in ninth ...
James Baker has at least one blocked shot in 14 straight games  ... The only game in the last 13 that MSU has more than 12 turnovers was against Eastern Kentucky at home ... The 6,071 fans announced Thursday against Murray State was a Johnson Arena record.
3-POINT STREAK OVER 400
Morehead State has hit at least one three-pointer in 402 consecutive games, dating back to 2007 when the Eagles were held without a made one from beyond the arc against Jacksonville State.
70 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
Holding an opponent to fewer than 70 points has been a key stat for the Eagles this season. They are 5-1 when they do that.
SPRADLIN'S SUCCESS AGAINST THE COLONELS
Head coach
Preston Spradlin has led the Eagles to a 4-1 mark against Eastern Kentucky in his three seasons (including his interim season). That's the best mark against the 32 teams he has coached against.
GOING HARD TO THE OFFENSIVE GLASS
Only eight times in the 30 games have the Eagles not secured double-digit offensive rebounds in a game.
AIR JORDAN
Junior guard
Jordan Walker scored 20 points or more for the 11th time this season in the game with Austin Peay. That's the most 20+ point efforts in a year since current Houston Rocket Kenneth Faried totaled 15 performances of 20 or more back in 2010-11.
TOP FIVE IN ASSISTS
Senior guard
A.J. Hicks has dished out at least one assist in all 59 games of his two-year career. Hicks ranks third in the OVC with 168 total assists (5.6 per game). He is now ranked fifth on the MSU single-season assist chart with just eight more to move as high as third. His career total of 290 is also 10th on the program's career list.
BLOCK IT BAKER
Sophomore
James Baker has a team-best 48 blocked shots this year, but 18 of those have come just in the last five games. Baker recorded a career-best six denied shots against Eastern Kentucky and nearly matched it with five more against Austin Peay. To put it in perspective, Baker only had seven total blocks his entire freshman season last year.
