MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State women's basketball team will face off with Jacksonville State in the opening round of the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. ET inside the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.

The Eagles enter the tournament as the second-seeded team after finished their conference slate with a 13-5 mark and closing out the regular season with a 22-9 record. Jacksonville State plays as the seven seed with an even 9-9 conference record and a 15-14 overall tally.

Morehead State and the Gamecocks split their two meetings during the 2018-19 season with both winning on their home floors.

The Morehead State women's basketball team rolls into the OVC Tournament with optimism following a 22-9 campaign that included a 13-5 mark against conference competition. The Eagles 22-win season ties the program's second-best win total ever in a season (2009-10).

FAMILER FIRST ROUND FOES
Morehead State and Jacksonville state are not only meeting for the third time this season, but for the second consecutive year in the first round of the OVC Tournament. The Eagles and Gamecocks split the season series in 2019 with both teams getting wins on their home floors. JSU knocked MSU out of the 2018 OVC tournament with a 13-point win in the first round.

ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS
Miranda Crockett and
Aliyah Jeune earned First Team All-OVC honors while Mcknezie Calvert was nabbed as a Second-Team All-OVC player the league announced Tuesday. Crockett is the third rated scorer in the league (18.3) and ninth rebounder (7.1) while Jeune is third in triples made (73) and a sixth in scoring (16.5). Calvert is sixth in the league for steals (1.8). Jeune was also voted to the All-Newcomer Team.

WHAT. A. CAREER.
Senior guard Miranda has had quite the four-year career for the Eagles. The senior's 21-point performance last time out against Tennessee Tech (Feb 22) catapulted her past former MSU great Donna Stephens (1978-82) for third on the school's all-time scoring list. Crockett has amassed 1,780 total points on 753 field goal, which is ranked second all-time for field goal makes. Crockett is third in career-games played (223) and is currently fourth for career steals with 233.

For the first time in program history, the Morehead State women's basketball team has won at least 20+ games in three consecutive seasons. The team's win over Tennesee Tech on Feb. 13 helped the team to the milestone. MSU has also eclipsed the 10-win mark in OVC play for the third consecutive season - another first for the program.

Three Eagles have been honored this season by the OVC with weekly honors. Junior
Aliyah Jeune (Nov. 13), senior
Miranda Crockett (Nov. 20), and senior
Tierra McGowan (Jan. 22) have each won OVC Player of the Week once. Jeune, who sat out last season after transferring from Rutgers, has been named the league's Newcomer of the Week on four different occasions (Nov. 14, Nov. 27, Jan. 8, Jan. 22).

THE TODDFATHER
Head coach
Greg Todd moved to third in the MSU record book for all-time wins with his 77th victory as the bench boss when his team defeated UT Martin on Jan. 19, 2019. Todd surpassed former coach Laura Litter (1997-2005). Todd is in his fifth season at the helm of the program.
