Bennett & Meyer To Be Honored Prior To Saturday's Matchup with EIU
MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Morehead State soccer team is set to salute seniors Aubrey Bennett and Cheyenne Meyer prior to its game on Saturday afternoon doubleheader against Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois.
 
The Eagles (2-29, 0-10 OVC) are looking for their first league win of 2019. Eastern Illinois (10-33, 1-11 OVC) look to snap an 11-game losing streak, eight of those to OVC opponents.
 
Meyer, a senior from Port Republic, N.J., has played in 70 games while sporting the blue and gold after transferring to MSU to play her sophomore season. The right-handed player has spent time at first base, third base, and made 10 appearances in the pitcher's circle. Meyer has hit two home runs in her career and drove in seven runs. I the field, the senior has a fielding percentage of .975.
 
Bennett, a four-year senior from Temple, Ga., has played in 178 games and started in 139. The slap-hitting lefty has drove in 21 runs and legged out four triples and three doubles. Bennett, who has spent most of her career as an outfielder but has stepped up and played catcher some during the 2019 season due to injury, has a career fielding percentage of .946. The senior started in 50-of-51 games during the Eagles' 28 win campaign in 2018 – the most wins the program has had since 2009.
 
Frist pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET and game to will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Senior day ceremonies will begin at 12:25 p.m. ET.
 
The Eagles also welcome area K-6 students to attend the game for a post-game free chilrens clinic that they learn some pointers on softball from the team.
 
Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
