Softball Defeated In Double Feature at Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. – The Morehead State softball dropped a pair of games to Ohio Valley Conference foe Murray State on Sunday afternoon at Racer Field.

The Eagles (2-37, 0-18) were defeated by scores of 9-1 (5inn.) and 15-0 (5inn.) on a day where they struggled to hit the Racers' (24-24, 14-6) pitching.

Morehead State combined for just four hits on the day across the two games. Junior Randi Hamilton, sophomore Alexis Strother, and freshman Princess Valencia all recorded base knocks while junior Helyna Bissell pick up an RBI on her base hit in the fourth inning of game one. Bissell plated senior Aubrey Bennett after Bennett reached via an error.

Strother (0-5) and Hamilton (2-8) both started for the Eagles and were hung with the losses. For the Racers, Amber Van Duyse (3-2) was awarded the win after tossing three relief innings during game one, while starting pitcher Taylor Makowsky (8-4) was the victor in game two after allowing one hit in three innings.

Next up, Morehead State returns home for a non-conference matchup at University Field against Marshall. The game is slated to be the Eagles' final home game of 2019.
