MOREHEAD, Ky. – For the second straight season, Morehead State women's golf opens the season at home, welcoming Northern Kentucky to Eagle Trace Golf Course. The Eagles host the Norse for a 36-hole Individual Invitational Sunday. Tee time for round one is set for 8:30 a.m. ET.

"We are thrilled to host Northern Kentucky at Eagle Trace tomorrow," said head coach Stephanie Barker. "This is an opportunity for all of our Eagle golfers to tee it up and compete in a fun venue to kick off the fall season."

Morehead State returns five players who competed in 20 or more rounds last season. The Eagles welcome back senior Gypsie Hutchinson, redshirt junior Bridget Connolly, and sophomores Elise Alaan, Sarah Black, and Isabella Washka from last year's squad.

Connolly, a 2018-19 Ohio Valley Conference All-Newcomer, teams with Hutchinson at the top of the Eagles' lineup, both leading the team with a 77.1 stroke average. Both players fired similar low rounds last season with Connolly shooting a season-low 70 with Hutchinson adding a season-low 71. Connolly and Hutchinson also led the Eagles last season with two top-five finishes.

Sunday's 36-Hole Individual Invitational also marks the first collegiate rounds for a trio of freshman that comprises the program's 2019-20 signing class. Freshmen Alina-Sophie Koch, MacKenzie Neal, and Hailey Rietz will get their first opportunity to compete as Eagles following standout prep and junior careers.

"The course is set up to be challenging, yet there are definitely a handful of birdie opportunities out there too. I expect some low scores from both teams. It will be a competitive run for the top two individual awards," remarked Barker.
