MOREHEAD, Ky. –
For just the second time in program history, Morehead State volleyball (5-1) heads to the Sunflower State, competing at the Kansas Volleyball Invitational. The four-day, three-match event hosted by Kansas also features matches against Arizona and Syracuse.

Facing the Jayhawks, Orange, and Wildcats, Morehead State faces three opponents from Power-Five Conferences (ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac-12, and SEC) in the same weekend for the first time since the term was adopted, colloquially, in 2006.

Entering the weekend, the Eagles carry momentum after capturing an Ohio Valley Conference weekly award for the fourth consecutive week—dating back to last season. This week, junior outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier captured her fifth OVC Offensive Player of the Week honor after slamming home 44 kills while crafting a .305 hitting percentage from the outside.

In addition to earning OVC weekly honors for her performance last weekend, Lohmeier was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Eagle Challenge, leading a contingent of three Eagles on the All-Tournament Team as Morehead State swept its way to its third consecutive Eagle Challenge victory. Sophomores, middle blocker Mia Swearingen and libero Allison Whitten also earned spots on the All-Tournament roster.

Swearingen received All-Tournament Team honors for the second-straight week after pacing Morehead State's block, turning away 15 total shots (1.67 per set) last weekend. She also added 25 kills offensively as she generated 34.5 points. Whitten captained the Eagle back row, leading the team with 44 digs (4.89 per set) during the event, adding a career-high five service aces against Georgia State.

For the season, Morehead State finds itself amongst the best teams in the country at limiting opponent's hitting percentage and at landing service aces. The Eagles rank third in the NCAA—behind No. 4 Penn State and No. 6 Pittsburgh—in opponent hitting percentage, permitting opponents to hit just .127 on the year. In the service department, Morehead State ranks 18th in the nation in team service aces, pocketing 48 winners on the season.

In the Kansas Volleyball Invitational's first match features Kansas (3-2) hosting a match in the brand-new Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena as the Jayhawks host Morehead State. Kansas enters the event off a 1-2 weekend at the UCF Challenge. Syracuse (0-2) enters having dropped its lone two matches of the season—both against ranked competition—while Arizona (4-2) enters off a 2-1 weekend at the SDSU/USD Invitational.

Morehead State starts the weekend Thursday, opposing Kansas at 8 p.m. ET. before facing Syracuse Friday at 5 p.m. and Arizona Saturday at 1 p.m.
