MOREHEAD, Ky. –
For the 13th time in program history, Morehead State volleyball is set to host the Comfort Inn-Vitational. The longest-running volleyball tournament in program history is set to run from Thursday to Saturday at Johnson Arena.

The event, which has run from 2006-09 and 2011-present, features six matches, pitting the Eagles (6-3) against regional rival Marshall (7-3), Coppin State (3-7), and Southeastern Louisiana (4-7). The Comfort Inn-Vitational sets up with a single contest Thursday, three contests Friday, and two contests Saturday.

Morehead State enters the weekend after going 1-2 at the Kansas Volleyball Invitational. The Eagles lone victory came as the Eagles defeated a Power-Five Conference foe for the first time since 2013, defeating Syracuse in five sets.

Junior outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier led Morehead State offensively last weekend, producing 49 kills, including a career-high-tying 25 kills against Syracuse. For the season, she ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference in total kills, tallying 147. Fellow junior outside hitter Lauren Rokey collected 23 kills at the Kansas Volleyball Invitational and is nearing 100 total kills on the season.

Earning the first start of her career against Syracuse, freshman setter Bridget Bessler notched the first double-double of her career, passing out 45 assists and totaling 11 digs. She tallied a team-high 88 assists last weekend and leads the Eagles with 214 on the year.

Defensively, Morehead State's backline is led by sophomore libero Allison Whitten who's dug up a team-best 135 balls this season. She captains a group that features three other defensive specialists with 50 or more digs on the season as sophomore Olivia Montelisciani (82), redshirt senior Danielle McCarson (66), and redshirt sophomore Taylor Hodges (54) all join Whitten in the back row.

At the net, sophomore middle blocker Mia Swearingen leads Morehead State in total blocks, deterring 33 shots on the year. She averages one block per set and has accumulated eight solo blocks and 25 block assists this season.

In the service game, Morehead State has landed 60 aces on the year, a total which ranks second in the OVC. Montelisciani leads the Eagles and the OVC with 17 aces on the year while McCarson ranks fourth in the league with 14 winners.

Morehead State opens the Comfort Inn-Vitational with a 6 p.m. ET first serve against Marshall Thursday before hosting Coppin State (6 p.m.) Friday and Southeastern Louisiana (2 p.m.) Saturday.
