MOREHEAD, Ky. – Kevin and Erin (Peak) Cristello found tremendous success during and following their collegiate careers, but it was at Morehead State where they found each other.
Kevin was an All-Pioneer League performer for the Eagle football program from 2001-05, twice leading the team in sacks. Erin was a three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference standout in volleyball from 2005-08. The couple now reside in South Carolina with their two sons Kameron and Chandler. Kevin is the Director of Football Operations and Chief of Staff for Coastal Carolina (a member of the FBS level Sun Belt Conference), while Erin is a speech-language pathologist.

"Being a part of the football team and volleyball team at Morehead State meant everything to us," they agreed. "We are extremely proud of where we went to school and the relations we gained and still have to this day. The sacrifice and tough times we spent together with our teammates made the experience better and made it all worth it."
Besides his current role, the former defensive line star for the Eagles has also had coaching roles at Nebraska (2017), Eastern Kentucky (2011-16) and Kentucky Christian (2008-10). He was KCU's interim head coach in 2010. He started as a graduate assistant for the Eagles in 2006 and 2007.
Erin's volleyball playing resume included more than 1,200 career kills and more than 1,000 digs. She helped the Eagles win OVC regular-season titles in 2007 and 2008.
They both have fond memories of their time on the turf and the court.
"Besides going to watch Erin play volleyball, one of my best memories was coming from behind to beat Duquesne (15-10) in 2003 at home," Kevin said. "I still remember hearing the roar from the crowd when Eli Parkes scored to put us ahead."
"Every time we beat EKU and winning the Georgia Invitational my sophomore year," Erin said. "It was an awesome feeling beating an SEC team. I also absolutely loved getting to play the game I love so much with my best friends every day."
The also both know that college athletics can give a person so much more than just stats and a jersey.
"The life lessons you learn through playing sports helps you with real life situations. In life things happen that are out of your control," they said. "Morehead State University helped us with knowing how to respond to adverse situations instead of reacting to them. We have learned how to be flexible and how to "make it happen" in any given situation. We both have jobs where we are trying to make a positive impact on others in different ways and we take pride in our current positions as we did in our positions at Morehead State."
