Soccer Hosts Purdue Fort Wayne in Final Non-Conference Match of 2019 on Sunday
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Following an emotional last-second victory over Ohio Valley Conference rival Belmont on Friday evening, the Morehead State Soccer team is set to play its final non-conference match of its 2019 season against Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET at the MSU Recreation & Wellness Intramural Field.

"We're looking to get better on Sunday," said MSU head coach Warren Lipka. "We expect a competitive match but our main focus is to continue to improve on the good things we have done over the last week or so. It's also important to stay healthy when playing a non-conference opponent in the middle of your conference schedule so we'll do a bit more subbing and try to keep our legs under us."

The Eagles enter their matchup against the Mastodons on a two-match winning streak after a 1-0 road win over Jacksonville State on Sept. 22 and Friday night's 1-0 triumph over the Bruins. Overall Morehead State sports a record of 3-6-1 while its conference mark is 2-0-1.

In the victory over Belmont, sophomore defender Nicole Palmer scored the match-winning goal with three seconds remaining after a corner kick was deflected several times in the penalty box before finding its way to her feet at the top of the goalie box. Palmer capitalized on the moment and notched her second match-winning goal of the season.

Purdue Fort Wayne, which is a member of The Summit League, visits Morehead sporting an overall record of 4-3-2. The Mastodons are led by head coach Jason Burr who is 18-73-11 leading the team and in his sixth season.

Sunday's match will be the fourth meeting between Morehead State and Purdue Fort Wayne on the soccer pitch and the first between the programs since 2006. The Mastodons hold the all-time series advantage 2-1.

The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and live statistics can be accessed on MSUEagles.com

MSU encourages spectators attending the match to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets due to limited bleacher seating at the Rec & Wellness Intramural Field.
