MOREHEAD, Ky
. – The Morehead State Women's Basketball team is set to host its final game of a four-game homestand when it welcomes Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Illinois to Johnson Arena on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. ET tipoff.
 
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on Eagle Sports Network, 96.3-FM WIVY. Live statistics will be available on MSUEagles.com
 
GAME NOTES
 
SATURDAY'S MATCHUP
Morehead State welcomes Eastern Illinois to Johnson Arena on Saturday afternoon for its 16th overall game and fourth contest in Ohio Valley Conference play in 2019-20. The Eagles enter the matchup with a 6-9 overall record and a 2-1 mark in OVC play. The Panthers visit sporting an 8-6 overall mark and a 2-1 league record
 
THE SERIES
Morehead State holds a 21-17 series advantage over Eastern Illinois. The Eagles have won six-straight games over the Panthers, dating back to 2013, by an average score of 74.8-67.2. Last season, MSU outlasted EIU in Charleston, Ill., 67-57.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Morehead State: The Eagles defeated SIUE on Thursday, 75-69. Junior Jazzmyn Elston scored a career-high 21 points while freshman Ariel Kirkwood rejected nine shots and made five steals to go along with 11 points.
 
Eastern Illinois: The Panther topped Eastern Kentucky on Thursday in Richmond, 83-63. Junior guard Karle Pace led all scorers with 25 points while also swiping a game-high five steals.
 
ROOKIE REJECTIONS RECORD
With nine blocks against SIUE on Jan.9., guard Ariel Kirkwood surpassed Brooke Todd (2014-18) for the top spot on Morehead State's single-season record for blocked shots by a freshman. The rookie guard has tallied 39 blocks in just 15 games. Todd, who finished her career with 264 rejections which ranks as the second-most in MSU history and the third-most in OVC history, blocked 33 shots in 30 games during her freshman season in 2014-15. 
 
BEST IN CLASS
Among freshman guards at the NCAA Division I level, the six-foot rookie Ariel Kirkwood is one of the nation's best. The six-foot Milwaukee native leads the group in rebounds per game (9.1) and blocked shots (39).
 
ACTION JACKSON
Senior Breuna Jackson has been a part of a historic run for the Morehead State Women's Basketball program. Since stepping on campus in 2016, the 5-foot-4 guard has been a part of three consecutive 20-plus win seasons, two trips to the WNIT, and the school's first-ever postseason victory. This season, Jackson has stepped into a leadership role as the Eagles lone four-year senior - and she has produced. Jackson currently leads MSU in points per game (10.5), three-point shooting (23-64,.359), and free-throw shooting (39-42,.929).
 
Entering Saturday's game, Jackson's .929 clip at the charity stripe ranks third in NCAA DI and first in the OVC.
 
OVC HONORS
Freshmen guards Tomiyah Alford and Ariel Kirkwood have both wo OVC Freshman of the Week honors during the season. Kirkwood recieved the recognition on Dec. 10 while Alford won back-to-back honors on Dec. 17 and Dec. 23.
 
THE TODDFATHER
Head coach Greg Todd achieved career victory #250 on Jan. 2, against Jacksonville State. The sixth-year MSU bench boss is currently at 94 wins at MSU which ranks third in program history. Prior to MSU, Todd led DIII Transylvania (Ky.) for seven seasons and compiled a record of 157-64.
