MOREHEAD, Ky. – This is a new series leading up to the beginning of the coming sports seasons that allows our fans to get to know our student-athletes. A different player will be featured in a story on their responses to a questionnaire given to all of our teams.
 
This edition is on softball redshirt senior Helyna Bissell.
 
Why did you choose to come to Morehead State?
Bissell: I thought the size was perfect for me and I loved the family atmosphere.
 
What is your favorite memory playing your sport?
Bissell: My freshman year when we traveled to New Orleans to play in a tournament. It was right around Mardi Gras and we went to the French Quarter one night for all the celebrations!
 
What is your favorite song and which artist sings it?
Bissell: Valerie by Amy Winehouse.
 
What is your favorite movie and/or TV show and why did you choose that movie?
Bissell: Grease, my grandma had me watch it when I was little and I've loved it ever since.  
 
What is your favorite restaurant to eat at and what is your go-to meal there?
Bissell: Ralph's Pizzeria in Nutley, NJ- Plain Pizza with extra sauce.
 
If you could have one superpower, what would that be and why?
Bissell: To be able to heal/take pain away from anyone. My passion in life is to help others.
 
Who is your favorite professional athlete and what makes them your favorite?
Bissell: Giancarlo Stanton, he's an absolute beast at the plate.
 
What is your favorite spot to go to on campus or in town/region?
Bissell: Cave Run Lake
 
If you could time travel to any year/time period, what would you choose and why?
Bissell: The 1960's, there was a revolution in social norms and the music from that decade is my favorite.
