MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State Softball is pleased to announce a four-member class for the fall signing period, inking
Breanna Sexton,
Ilencia Lightbody,
Ieesha Christian, and
Madi Ogden to National Letters of Intent. These student-athletes will be freshmen during the 2021-22 school year.
Sexton comes to Morehead State from
Silverdale Baptist Academy in Chattanooga, Tenn. where her team won the
TSSAA Division II Class A State Championship in 2018. She also suits up the Tennessee Elite Gold 18U travel team. The right-handed pitcher excels in the classroom being named Beta Club President as well as winning the 2019 Young Southern Writers Contest and the 2018
VolunTEEN award.
"Bre is a student-athlete who always wants to make sure she is the first one at the field and the last one to leave," said head coach
Samantha Jones. "Her love for the game, and drive to be the best, will add another competitive level here in our program. We can't wait for Bre to get on campus and have her compete with her teammates while in the process of adding into our environment of team over self. She will lead by example and we are excited to see her grow as an Eagle."
Lightbody, originally from
Wentzville, Mo., currently attends Timberland High School where she is her school's record holder in triples and runs scored in a season. Her club team is the Louisville Lady Sluggers '03 Wright. She posted a .550 batting average along with a .625 on-base percentage and a 1.125 slugging percentage. A right-handed utility player,

"We are excited to add
Ilencia to our Eagle Family," commented Jones. "Her passion for the game, dedication, discipline, and competitive nature will add another level of depth to our program. She is a student-athlete who will always push herself and her teammates beyond expectations. We feel she will be an instant leader when she steps on Morehead's campus. Our staff is looking forward to seeing
Ilencia and the rest of her '21 classmates soon."
A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., Christian roams the outfield for
Westmoore High School along with being a member of the Oklahoma Athletics 18U Premier travel team. "We are excited to add
Ieesha to our Eagle Family. She brings speed to the outfield and is a triple threat at the plate," said Jones. "Her softball IQ and level of play will continue to enhance her teammates and this program. We know she will excel and look forward to her years here at Morehead State."
Ogden currently attends Williamsburg High School in Williamsburg, Ohio. In her last full season in 2019, she batted .700 with a state-record 77 hits, 15 home runs, and 85 RBI along with a 23-2 record in the circle. For her efforts, she was named
