Men's Golf Predicted Third, Women's Golf Seventh in OVC Predicted Order of Finish
OVC RELEASE

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. –
As voted on by the league's head coaches, Morehead State men's and women's golf programs garnered third and seventh-place rankings, respectively, in the 2020 Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll released Monday.

For the men, a third-place selection marks the program's highest preseason selection in the history of the poll that dates back to 2010. The prediction also comes with another first for the program—the first preseason first-place vote in team history. Overall, the Eagles received 84 total points in the poll.

"Our young men are excited to compete this spring," said head coach Matthew Martin. "They have been working hard in the offseason to continue building on what we accomplished in the fall. We will look to improve with each tournament and perform our best when it's time for the postseason."

Morehead State men's golf enters the spring portion of its schedule later this week, competing at the George Washington President's Day Match Play event in Weston, Fla. The Eagles enter the event following the program's most successful fall schedule in 20 seasons, having claimed five top-four finishes in five events during the fall, including a win at the NKU Fall Classic.

On the women's side, the Eagles ranked seventh in the preseason predictions while receiving 25 total votes overall.

"As a team, we appreciate the importance of statistics, as well as the votes of our peers," said head coach Stephanie Barker. "However, we are most interested in competing. We look forward to continued improvement and being our best at the OVC Championship."

Morehead State women's golf continues the spring portion of its schedule later this month, competing at the Oyster Shuck Match Play Event in Mount Pleasant, S.C. The Eagles began the spring with a strong showing at the Mid-American Match Play Challenge, going 3-1 during the tournament and claiming a third-place finish.
