Men's Basketball Returns to Johnson Arena to Host Belmont

Looking to finish strong in their final four conference games, Morehead State men's basketball returns home Thursday night to host Belmont. Game time is 7 p.m. ET following the women's game.

The Eagles (12-15/6-8 OVC) are still very much in the hunt for an OVC Tournament berth and could benefit from a few wins down the stretch. The Bruins (20-7/11-3 OVC) are fighting for a top four spot and at least one bye in the tournament.

The game will air live on ESPN+ and can be heard on WIVY-96.3 FM.

FIVE TIDBITS ON THURSDAY'S MATCHUP

• The Eagles trail 14-2 in their series with Belmont. The Bruins have claimed seven straight meetings in the series. The two wins did, however, both come at Johnson Arena.

• Freshman forward Tyzhaun Claude enters the contest having averaged 15.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in his last four games. The freshman from Goldsboro, N.C. has 10 games this year where he has seven or more rebounds.

• Senior guard Jordan Walker is now ranked No. 15 on Morehead State's all-time scoring list with 1,432 career points. His next rung is No. 14 where 2010-11 hero Demonte Harper sits with 1,436 career points.

• Junior guard Juice Thomas' 58 steals is the 10th highest single-season total in program history. The game against Belmont will feature the OVC's number one and two ranked steal totals in Thomas (2) and Belmont's Grayson Murphy (1).

• The Eagles are one of five teams in the OVC with 10 or more home victories.

LAST TIME VERSUS BELMONT: Belmont 77, Morehead State 59 (Jan. 18, 2020 in Nashville, Tenn.)

Morehead State's men's basketball team hung with OVC power Belmont for a majority of the night, but a late surge by the home team resulted in a 77-59 defeat for the Eagles at the Curb Event Center.

Junior forward James Baker erupted for his second straight game leading the team in scoring, with 16 points. He also led the squad with seven rebounds and had two blocked shots.
