Illinois Road Trip Begins for Men's Hoops at SIUE Thursday Night

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. --
Morehead State men's basketball embarks on the Illinois road trip in the Ohio Valley Conference this week, starting with an 8:30 p.m. ET contest at SIUE Thursday night.

The Eagles (11-12/5-5 OVC) will look for a season sweep over the Cougars (5-18/2-8 OVC).

Tonight's game will air live on ESPN+ and WIVY-96.3 FM as well as MSUEagles.com. Following tonight's action, the Eagles will venture a little further north to face Eastern Illinois Saturday.

GAME NOTES

• Morehead State owns a 9-3 lead in the all-time series with SIUE, which began in 2009-10. The Eagles are 4-2 in the last six against the Cougars.

• The SIUE series has been extremely competitive. While winning four of the last six games the Eagles' margin of victory in that span has been only 5.5.

• Senior guard Jordan Walker has scored 1,408 career points, sitting at No. 18 on the Eagles' all-time scoring list.

• Jordan Walker was named OVC Player of the Week this past week after averaging 21.5 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 56 percent against Southeast Missouri and UT Martin.

• Jordan Walker has three straight 20+ point performances. It's the third time in his four-year career he has put together three straight games with 20+, doing it twice last season. He has also shot better than 50 percent during the previous three games.

• Senior guard Djimon Henson has reached double figures in 10 of the past 13 games with three 20-point outputs in that span.

• Freshman forward Tyzhaun Claude ranks 10th in the OVC in rebounding (6.3/game) but his average leads all freshmen in the Ohio Valley Conference.

• Freshman guard Ta'lon Cooper has the numbers four and fi ve going for him right now. He hit four of his five three-pointers against UT Martin, and he also has 3+ assists in four of the past fi ve games.

• Junior forward James Baker is nearing the century mark for blocked shots in his career. He has 94 career swats in 80 career games.

• Junior guard Juice Thomas is the OVC leader in steals with 50.

• The Eagles lead the conference in fewest turnovers per game. At 12.4, this is the second straight year the Eagles have averaged less than 12.5 mistakes per game. Those are two best figures since the 2010-11 season.

• With 106 blocked shots, Morehead State leads the OVC.
