Bryce Hensor and Dom Peroni Deliver Home Runs But Baseball Falls in Series Finale Versus Belmont

BOX SCORE

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Hitting their first and third home runs of the season, respectively, infielders Bryce Hensor and Dom Peroni drove in all four of Morehead State baseball's runs Sunday as the team fell to in the series finale against Belmont.

For Peroni, his second-inning home run marked his second of the week—also homering against Louisville on Tuesday—while marking the eighth homer of his Eagle career. Hensor's third-inning blast was the first of his season and second of his career as he homered for the first time Sunday since slugging his first career home run against UT Martin on April 6, 2018.

With the win, Belmont improves to 13-3 on the year and 3-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play following the 10-4 decision while Morehead State drops to 4-10 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Morehead State returns home tomorrow afternoon, hosting Dayton for a non-conference bout at 4 p.m. ET. The game, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, can be heard on the Eagle Sports Network with pregame coverage beginning at 3:45 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
T2: Belmont got on the board first as third baseman Chandler Adkins homered to right-center, connecting on his first homer of the season.

B2: Morehead State answered the Bruin homer with one of their own as Peroni tattooed a ball to leftfield, bringing home third baseman Stephen Hill who opened the frame with a walk against lefty starter Andy Bean.

B3: Coming out of a mound visit preceded by six consecutive balls from Bean, including a four-pitch walk to leftfielder Bryce Ray, Hensor ambushed a 2-0 fastball, crushing the ball to the deepest part of the ballpark to extend the Eagle lead.

T4: Behind a pair of walks and hits, Belmont used two additional home runs—a two-run shot from second baseman Logan Jarvis and a three-run homer from catcher Jackson Campbell.

T5: Hitting his second homer of the game, Adkins delivered a second solo shot, this time to centerfield, to extend the Bruin advantage.

T7: Using a sacrifice fly to center, designated hitter Tommy Crider brought home rightfielder John Behrends from third.

T8: Reaching with a walk, Campbell scored following a Morehead State error, crossing the plate for the final run of the game.

NOTABLE
Redshirt sophomore second baseman Bryce Hensor's home run in the third inning marked the second of his career and the first since hitting his first collegiate homer against UT Martin on April 6, 2018.

Swiping his first bag of the season, redshirt junior third baseman Stephen Hill notched his third-career stolen base and first since stealing a bag against Austin Peay in the OVC Tournament on May 25, 2019.

Striking out three batters in the first of his two innings of work Sunday, freshman right-hander Luke Helton collected a career-best strikeout total.
