Eagles Look to Continue Winning Ways in Mid-Week Clash With Tennessee Tech

MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Morehead State Volleyball takes the OVC's longest winning streak against Tennessee Tech in a mid-week clash at Johnson Arena Wednesday.

The Eagles have won nine straight matches to vault themselves into second place in the OVC, only one game back of leader Austin Peay. Tennessee Tech, meanwhile, started conference play strong, opening with a 4-0 record the last time these two teams met, but have since dropped five of their last seven matches.

Wednesday will be the second matchup between the two schools in the 2021 season. In their last matchup at Cookeville, Morehead State took a 3-1 decision on the back of a career-best performance from freshman Maycie Welborn, who had 12 kills to lead the Eagles.

Wednesday's 6 p.m. ET match will air on ESPN+.

  • Olivia Lohmeier is currently second in the OVC in kills (337) and points (381.5). She continues to climb up the OVC leaderboard, sitting only 52 kills behind Abbey Breit (Jacksonville State 2004-07) for third most all-time and 70 kills behind Jennifer James (Eastern Kentucky 1988-91) for second all-time.
  • McKenzee Wagener set a career-high for kills in a match last week when she tallied 15 against Eastern Illinois. It was the second double-digit kill effort of her career. The redshirt-freshman is also second in the conference in total blocks (93).
