MOREHEAD, Ky. -- During head coach
Alan Joseph's tenure as Morehead State Rifle coach, the Eagles have continually set and re-set records. Saturday was no exception as Morehead State scored a school-record 4,680 in a victory over the VMI women's team.
Junior
Bryce Ward contributed greatly to the record, nearly setting a record of his own with a 595 Air Rifle total. He came within one center shot of tying teammate
Erin Diehl's school mark. Diehl fired a 592 herself. Also in Air, the Eagles finished with a 2362, helped by senior
Katie Frye's 589 and junior
Grace Weber's 586.
In Smallbore, Ward continued his torrid pace with a 581 to score an overall 1176. Diehl led the team in SB with a 583, while junior
Elizabeth Plecity had a 578. Weber rounded out the totals with a 576.
Also in Air, Plecity shot 586, and freshman
Danielle Vigil turned in a 584.
The Eagles will be at home again next weekend with a pair of matches against UT Martin.
