MOREHEAD, Ky. –
Coming back from an up and down week, Morehead State returns home Thursday for the first of two critical matchups in OVC play. First up, the Eagles take on Austin Peay at 6 p.m. ET before heading to Murray State Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

Last week, the Eagles vaulted themselves into contention within the OVC with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Tennessee Tech, before falling at conference-favorite SIUE 5-0 on the road. Despite the lopsided decision at SIUE, the defense of the Eagles was heavily featured, as they held their opponents off the scoreboard for three of the four halves played last week.

"We've done a lot of good things early in conference play. Sunday was not our best 10 minutes in the second half, but those things happen. The second half was an off day. We just need to clear our heads and move on to the next," said head coach Warren Lipka.

The highlight of the defense was again Michelle Jerantowski, who notched her third shutout of the season against Tennessee Tech, and offensively, the spotlight was on Kate Larbes, whose 81st minute penalty kick was good for her second goal of the season, and first game winning goal of her career.

The Eagles now prepare for two very different teams this week in Austin Peay and Murray State.  The Governors come in still looking for their first OVC win and OVC goal, while Murray State and their high powered offense leads the conference in goals scored.

"Each team is hungry to get back on their winning ways, all three of us. You gotta prepare for energy and being competitive, especially being a conference game. These are going to be very tough, physical matches," Lipka added.
