Men's Basketball Returns Home for Contest Versus Alice Lloyd Saturday Afternoon

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Hoping to halt a two-game unsuccessful skid, Morehead State men's basketball will be back in action at home Saturday, hosting Alice Lloyd (Ky.). Tip-off will be around 4 p.m. ET following the women's game vs. USP Upstate.

Morehead State and head coach Preston Spradlin's alma mater, Alice Lloyd (Ky.), are meeting for the fifth time and third since Spradlin became official head coach in 2017-18. MSU has scored 100+ points against ALC three straight meetings, and the average victory margin in those games was 102-50.

The game action can be heard on the Eagle Sports Radio Network (WIVY-96.3 FM) with Tanner Hesterberg and Anthony Sizemore. It's also available on MSUEagles.com as well as network partner WGOH 100.9 FM/1370 AM. The game will also air live on ESPN+ as Mike Tussey returns to call play-by-play, joined by Dean Hardin.

NOTABLE
• Morehead State has seen 365 days pass since the last time any other team defeated the Eagles at home. Since falling to SIUE on Dec. 18, 2021, Morehead State has reeled off 12 consecutive wins at Johnson Arena.

Johni Broome owns an Ohio Valley Conference-best six double-doubles this season after registering back-to-back DDs at ETSU and Xavier. That ranks tied for third nationally. Broome now has 19 career double-doubles in 41 career games played.

• Sophomore guard Ta'Lon Cooper ranks fifth in the nation in assists per game at 6.8. Cooper owns a 3.0 assist-turnover ratio this season and now has 27 consecutive games with at least two or more assists.

• Morehead State has hit at least 5 three-pointers in all 11 games this season and has a string of 15 straight games with 5 or more triples made since the end of last year. The Eagles' 8.5 three-pointers drained per game ranks third in the OVC. 

• Second-year freshman Johni Broome ranks fifth in the nation in blocked shots, rejecting an average of 3.6 per game, and he has four games with 6 blocks already. Broome already has 96 career blocked shots, which ranks seventh on the program's career chart in just 41 games played.

• Grad transfer Tray Hollowell scored an MSU career-high 19 points at Xavier, hitting five three-pointers.

Tray Hollowell enters the ALC game with 926 career collegiate points, including 799 in four seasons at Wofford. Currently there are 34 former MSU players who have registered 1,000 points while suiting up as an Eagle.

• The Eagles rank tied for first in the OVC in fewest fouls per game at just 14. In seven total games, the Eagles' opponent has attempted less than 10 free throws.

•  Morehead State owns a string of 44 consecutive wins when leading with a minute left in regulation play. The last time MSU held a lead at the 1:00 minute mark of the second half and lost was a 65-64 setback at Jacksonville State on Jan. 21, 2019.

• Junior transfer Jake Wolfe scored an MSU career-high 13 points at ETSU, hitting a career-best three three-pointers. Wolfe's collegiate career high came nearly two years ago this week when he scored 26 in a game for Lipscomb against Southeast Missouri. 

• Morehead State has outscored its four opponents at home 74.0-58.2 or a margin of +15.8.  The Eagles also shoot 47 percent at home and have a +12.0 rebounding margin in Johnson Arena this season.
