Three-Pointers Rain In for Men's Hoops in Saturday Afternoon Victory

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
It may have pouring down real rain drops outside, but inside Johnson Arena Saturday the Morehead State men's basketball team rained in 15 three-pointers, including 10 in the second half, as the Eagles raced past Alice Lloyd (Ky.) 87-47.

MSU improved to 7-5 on the season and won its 13th consecutive home game. Alice Lloyd, an NAIA program from southeastern Kentucky, entered the game undefeated at 13-0 and counted the game as an exhibition. The second half proved to a difference-maker as MSU outscored ALC 53-25 after leading 34-22 at the halfway point.

Junior guard Skyelar Potter and grad transfer guard Tray Hollowell both nailed four triples each, with Potter leading five Eagles in double-figure scoring with 15. Hollowell contributed 12 points. Potter also dished out a career-high eight assists. 

Second-year center Johni Broome posted his third consecutive double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Off the bench, second-year freshman guard Drew Thelwell knocked in a trio of three-pointers and scored 11, while junior forward Jaylen Sebree was 2-of-3 on long range shots and notched 10 points. Center LJ Bryan came off the bench for a season-high eight points and seven rebounds as the Eagles out-board the visiting Eagles 40-23. 

MSU's ball movement turned into 25 assists, one short of a season-high, on 31 made buckets. The home Eagles also shot 52 percent overall and hit 15-of-35 on three-pointers.

Morehead State's largest lead came at 42 late in the contest.

MSU's last game before Christmas and the final non-conference game is set for Tuesday at IUPUI at 7 p.m. ET.
