OVC PRESEASON TEAM AND ORDER OF FINISH

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State senior baseball student-athletes Jon Burghardt and Stephen Hill have been named to the Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference team.

Burghardt, a native of Gig Harbor, Wash., was tabbed as the league's top designated hitter, while Hill, from Homer Glen, Ill., is the standout third baseman. Both these men and the rest of the Eagles open the 2021 season on Feb. 19 for a scheduled three-game series at Charlotte.

Burghardt led the Eaglres during the COVID-19 shortened season in 2020 with a .300 batting average to go along with three doubles and two home runs. In 2019, he belted six home runs and hit .296 in 38 games. He also boasted a slugging percentage of .519. He clubbed four of his long balls in consecutive games from May 1-5, including all three games in the series with Murray State as he helped the Eaglers set a school record with 40 wins.

Hill batted .294 and led the team with five doubles during the 15 games in 2020. In 2019, he produced a .327 batting average with 10 doubles and six round-trippers.
