MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State junior shooter
Erin Diehl completely rewrote the program record book on Saturday, helping the Eagles complete a weekend sweep of Georgia Southern. MSU topped the GSU Eagles 4657-4551.
Diehl set records for Smallbore at 588 with 26 center shots, Smallbore standing at 197 wth 12 centers, Air Rifle at 595 with 49 centers and combined score at 1183 with 75 total centers. Her efforts, plus all four other Air Rifle counters at 583 or better, helped the Eagles shoot 2350 in Air to go along with 2307 in Smallbore. That was the second best team SB score of the season, and the combined 4657 was a season-best for the squad.
Besides Diehl's stellar day, senior
Ryan Hinson shot a 587 in Air in his final home match. Sophomore
Bryce Ward turned in a career-high 586 (and also had his best-ever combined score at 1159), while junior
Amber Schifano was at 586. Two freshmen,
Sally Reeke and
Andrew Morris, each notched 584, while junior
Katie Frye and sophomore
Grace Weber tied at 583 each. Reeke's total was a personal high.
In Smallbore, Reeke shot a career-high 574 while Hinson, Ward, Frye and Weber all shot 573. Reeke set personal-bests in kneeling (190) and standing (188) and also combined score of 1158.
