Broome Tabbed for Program Record 8th OVC Freshman of the Week Accolade
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State's Johni Broome continued his historical season, helping the Eagles to their 17th victory of the year at UT Martin Saturday. His efforts have earned him his eighth Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week accolade.

Broome has established the program record for winning the FOTW honors now, passing Erik Brown (1998-99) and Ricky Minard (2000-01) who both earned seven. Broome has been named Freshman of the Week in eight of the 13 award periods this season.

At UT Martin, Broome came within a rebound of his ninth double-double with 14 points and nine boards. He hit 6-of-8 from the floor and also added two assists and two blocked shots.

Broome leads the OVC in blocked shots this year, trying to become just the third freshman to pace the conference in rejections in the past decade. He is also one of only three freshmen in Division I to lead his team in scoring, rebounding and blocks.
