MOREHEAD, Ky. --
Morehead State baseball is scheduled to get back to action this weekend when the Eagles face the Ohio Bobcats.

The scheduled four-game series will take place in Athens, Ohio and at Allen Field, weather permitting. MSU and OU will battle in a doubleheader at OU on Friday at 2 p.m. and are set to tangle in Morehead for another twinbill Sunday at 1 p.m. Check MSUEagles.com and social media as field conditions and weather could prevent Sunday's games from being able to be played in Morehead.

MSU will look for its first win in 2021, sitting at 0-4. Ohio won the final game of the series with Radford last weekend after dropping the first two.

NOTABLE
- After not meeting in 2020 due to a pandemic shortened season, Morehead State and Ohio resume their series Friday. The two teams have met in six of the past eight seasons after having not played one another since 1994. Overall, Ohio leads the series 27-11 with the series dating back to 1959

-Appearing out of the bullpen in last Saturday's game at Charlotte, left-hander Cory Conway made his 56th career relief appearance and 60th overall appearance. He ranks fifth in program history in career relief appearances and can move to fourth, tying Morgan Cirbo (2012-13).

-Drawing 24 base on balls during last weekend's four games, Morehead State leads the Ohio Valley Conference and ranks 22nd in the NCAA in the category. The Eagles have drawn five or more walks in each game this season and five consecutive games overall dating back to the 2020 season.

-Third baseman Stephen Hill and center-fielder Ryan Layne led Morehead State in walks last weekend, drawing four apiece to rank third in the OVC in the category. With catcher Jack Gardner and second baseman Bryce Hensor earning three free passes apiece, each of the top-four players in the Morehead State batting order last weekend drew three or more walks.

-In addition to drawing three walks last weekend, Hensor also scored five of Morehead State's runs while stealing a pair of bases. Both totals rank second in the OVC entering the weekend. Scoring a run in each of the team's four games this season, Hensor has now scored in six straight games dating back to last season.

-Racking up eight or more strikeouts in each of the team's four games this season, Morehead State's pitching staff ranks second in the OVC in strikeouts per nine innings, averaging 10.7 strikeouts per nine. The Eagles have recorded seven or more punchouts in each of the last seven games—dating back to last season—and have recorded seven or more strikeouts in 16 of 19 games since the beginning of the 2020 season.

-Reaching base eight times in 14 plate appearances last weekend, Gardner leads the Eagles and ranks fourth in the OVC with a .571 on-base percentage. He ranks second amongst OVC players who have played more than one game this season.

-Gardner, Hensor, Hill, and Layne have each reached base safely in all four games this season, each owning the four longest current reached base streaks. Hill leads the group, reaching in each of the last 12 games with Hensor just behind at 11 games.

-With a pair of relief appearances, right-hander Jake Ziegelmeyer can join Conway on the program's top-10 career relief appearances list. Should he reach the top-10, it would be the first time since 2016 the Eagles have had multiple players on the same roster on the list at the same time.

-Conway and Ziegelmeyer also enter the weekend ranked in the top-10 in program history in career saves. Ziegelmeyer ranks fifth with 12 career saves while Conway ranks seventh with seven saves.

-A pair of Eagles, Hill, and catcher/designated hitter Jon Burghardt, earned spots on the Preseason All-OVC team, slotting in at third base and designated hitter respectively. The pair of selections ensure Morehead State has had at least one player honored as a Preseason All-Conference selection in each of the past 13 seasons, dating back to 2008.

-With players reporting to Spring Training over the past week, a pair of former Morehead State Eagles earned invitations to Major League Spring Training. Taylor Davis (2009-11) earned an invitation from the Baltimore Orioles while Aaron Leasher (2015-17) received an invitation from the San Diego Padres.
