SCHEDULE
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State Softball is set to open its 2021 season next week with a 47-game schedule, including 19 home contests. The Eagles will also face non-conference opponents in 13 games.
Dates and times are subject to change due to current OVC and local health and safety protocols or inclement weather. Several home and road games are slated to be on ESPN+. That schedule will be available as soon as times are finalized.
Adjustments to the conference schedule were recently approved to provide teams with the needed flexibility to complete as many games as possible throughout the year. Teams will now compete in a pair of midweek doubleheaders with their travel partner along with a three-game weekend series with the rest of the conference.
Morehead State kicks off the season on the road for two straight weekends, beginning in Norfolk, Va., to take on Youngstown State and Norfolk State from February 20-21. The Eagles will then head to Louisville in games against Bellarmine and Western Michigan from February 27-28.
MSU will also travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky (March 10) before hosting Kentucky State (March 17) and heading to Dayton (April 7) to complete its non-conference schedule.
The Eagles will host six OVC foes this season, beginning with Eastern Illinois (March 6-7) followed by Tennessee Tech (March 20-21), Eastern Kentucky (March 24), Belmont (April 10-11), Jacksonville State (April 24-25), and SIUE (May 1-2). OVC road contests for Morehead State include Austin Peay (March 13-14), Southeast Missouri (March 27-28), Tennessee State (April 2-3), UT Martin (April 16-17), Eastern Kentucky (April 20), and Murray State (May 8-9).
The 2021 OVC Softball Tournament will be held in Oxford, Ala. at Choccolocco Park from May 13-15. For this season only, it was determined that the tournament field will only include four teams as opposed to eight from seasons past.
