NOTABLE
-Austin Peay has won the last two regular-season series the teams have played (2019, 2018). The 2017 series lasted just two games due to rain with the team splitting in Clarksville. Morehead State's last series win in Clarksville was in 2015, and prior to that was all the way back in 1999.
- Senior catcher
Jack Gardner ranks tied for third in the OVC in runs produced. The Jefferson, Mass., backstop has 27 RBI to lead the Eagles. He had five RBI in one inning in last weekend's 13-8 win over SIUE, nailing a three-run homer and two-run double. Gardner also ranks fifth in the league with a team-high six home runs.
- Freshman first baseman
Jackson Feltner continues to pace all OVC true freshmen in hitting. He enters the weekend batting .361 which also ranks seventh overall among league batters. Feltner carries a 14-game reached-base streak into the series at APSU and leads MSU with eight multi-hit games.
- Speaking of hitting leaders, Morehead State is one of four teams in the OVC to boast two hitters in the league's top 10. The top of the charts so far has been dominated by MSU with senior second baseman
Bryce Hensor ranking ninth (.352). Eastern Illinois, SEMO, and Belmont also have a pair each in the top 10.
- Strikeouts have been at an all-time high around the OVC, and Morehead State's pitchers are right there near the top. The Eagle hurlers average 9.41 whiffs per nine innings to rank second in the league. No team in the league has less than 7 Ks per nine innings among its pitching staff.
- When Morehead State upended No. 1-ranked Louisville 5-2 on March 2, it was the first time in program history the Eagles had knocked off a team ranked No. 1 in a reputable national poll. Since 2014, MSU now has nine wins over teams ranked in national polls.
- Morehead State is now 34-9 at home since the beginning of the 2019 season. The Eagles were an amazing 26-2 at home in 2019 and are now 6-2 at Allen Field in 2021. That is a 79 percent winning percentage in home games in three seasons.
- Freshman shortstop
Colton Becker and fifth-year outfielder
Ryan Layne carry nine-game reached-base streaks into the weekend series.
- Senior left-hander
Cory Conway leads the OVC and ranks among national leaders in wins with five - all in relief. Conway made his 71st career appearance at Dayton this week, 67 in relief to rank third all-time in program history in relief appearances.
- Morehead State's bullpen has been busy this season, combining for 24 appearances. Among Morehead State's 13 victories, pitchers in relief have recorded nine of the wins.
- In the last four games,
Bryce Hensor has recorded eight hits, including a pair of doubles in a three-hit day at Dayton Tuesday. Since March 13, he has upped his batting average 83 points to .352, ranking second on the team now.
