JACKSON, Tenn. -- It just wasn't in the cards for the Morehead State baseball team against Austin Peay Friday night. After dropping an emotional nailbiter earlier in the day to Murray State, the Governors held MSU to just five hits and defeated the Eagles 3-1 in the OVC Tournament to end Morehead State's season.
In its first full season under head coach
Mik Aoki, the Eagles did managed to post the program's seventh consecutive above .500 season (full seasons) at 24-23.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A leadoff walk eventually scored the first run for APSU. Garrett Spain singled through the right side to score Gino Avros.
- The Govs added to their lead with an RBI single with the bases loaded in the top of the third.
- An RBI single in the top of the eighth by APSU pushed its lead to 3-0.
- The Eagles finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth as senior catcher
Jack Gardner coaxed a bases-loaded walk. Senior
Bryce Hensor doubled, while freshman center-fielder
Ryley Preece walked and senior third baseman
Stephen Hill was hit by a pitch.

- After an 0-for-4 day, freshman first baseman
Jackson Feltner saw his OVC best 36-game reached-base streak and 27-game hitting streak come to a halt.
- Hensor, Preece and senior
Arthur Sells all had hits as well.
- Hensor wrapped up his final season with a .354 batting average, while Feltner - the OVC Freshman of the Year - finished at a team-best .390.
