Women's Golfers Prep for Upcoming Season with Strong Showings at Amateur Events
MOREHEAD, Ky. – As preparations for the 2021-22 golf season, two Morehead State women's golfers wrapped up play at the Kentucky Women's State Amateur Tuesday, competing in the match play event hosted by the Women's Kentucky Golf Association.

The three-day event featured a match play bracket, seeding the 32 players in the Kentucky Women's State Amateur field while also featuring a gross/net stroke play consolation round for players eliminated following the first round of stroke play.

Morehead State's MacKenzie Neal and Olivia Hensley entered the event as the No. 6 and No. 15 ranked golfers, respectively, in the field. Neal won her opening match against No. 27 Lauren Gilchrist 5&4 before falling to No. 11 Faith Martin in the second round 6&5 while Hensley succumb to No. 18 Ryan Bender in the opening round 4&3.

In the gross/net stroke play consolation round, Hensley captured the gross stroke play title, shooting a 75 (+3) at the University of Louisville Golf Club, taking the gross stroke play title by a stroke over Mattie Neeley. In the net stroke play portion, she finished tied for sixth, carrying a 71 (-1) following her round.

On the Cactus Tour, signee Hanna Montgomery has collected top-15 placements in each of her two events on the tour. Competing at Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas, she claimed her best finish of the summer, tying for eighth while crafting rounds of 69-74-73-216. In her other appearance on tour, she fired rounds of 79-77-77-233 to tie for 15th at Legacy Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.
