Volleyball and Beach Volleyball Sweep AVCA Team Academic Awards
MOREHEAD, Ky. – For the fourth consecutive season, Morehead State volleyball and beach volleyball claimed a sweep of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, claiming the highest team academic honor presented by the AVCA.

The 2020-21 academic year marks the 23rd overall season culminating in an AVCA Team Academic Award for volleyball since the honor's inception during the 1992-93 academic year while also marking the program's 13th consecutive Team Academic Award with the streak dating back to 2008-09.

For beach volleyball, 2020-21 represents the program's fourth overall AVCA Team Academic Award, capturing the honor in each of the past four seasons as the program has claimed the honor in four of its five seasons of competition.

The award, which was first awarded during the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball programs who excel in the classroom, maintaining a minimum 3.30 cumulative team GPA. In total, 1,275 programs were honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award.

The AVCA Team Academic Award is the single largest academic achievement honor awarded to volleyball programs around the country in the number of schools, student-athletes, and coaches honored.

Overall, volleyball and beach volleyball maintained 3.52 and 3.56 team GPAs, respectively while two volleyball student-athletes and three beach volleyball student-athletes maintained 4.00 GPAs during the 2020-21 academic year.
