MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Tyler Jackson, who helped Liberty to the finals of an NCAA regional in 2021, has joined the Morehead State baseball coaching staff as assistant coach.

Jackson, who also was part of two NCAA Tournament qualifying teams at the College of Charleston, helped guide Liberty to 41 wins and the Atlantic Sun regular season title this past season. The Flames won two games in the NCAA Knoxville regional, eliminating Duke to the reach the finals against host Tennessee.

Prior to Liberty, Jackson served six seasons as assistant coach at North Greenville (S.C.). From 2015-20, Jackson's tutelage helped the Crusaders raise their team batting average from .236 to better than .300 his final season. He was a part of 212 wins, averaging 35 wins per year. The team won 29 games in 2015, a year after only eight wins previous to Jackson's appointment there.

North Greenville secured back-to-back Conference Carolinas championships during the 2018 (46-10 record) and 2019 (45-11 record) campaigns. Jackson also saw several players under his guidance see their names in the MLB draft and play professionally, including Major League draftees Clark Scolamiero (2017), Connor Grant (2018), John Jones (2018) and Utah Jones (2019).

In 2014, Jackson was a member of the College of Charleston staff that helped the team win 44 games, win the Colonial Athletic Association title and advance all the way to the Lubbock (Texas) Super Regional.

He also served two years as head coach of the summer league Wilmington Sharks in the Coastal Plain League.

As a student-athlete, Jackson began his career at Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist, where he was an all-region pick, before moving on to C of C. In 2012, he helped the Cougars to an NCAA regional.

He is a 2014 graduate of C of C with a Bachelor's Degree in public health.
