Women's Basketball Adds Talented Duo of Semaj Adams and Jada Claude for 2021-22
MOREHEAD, Ky. – Continuing to add to her first signing class as the captain of the Morehead State women's basketball program, head coach Cayla Petree announces the signings of Semaj Adams and Jada Claude as members of the Eagle program's 2021-22 signing class.

Hailing from San Antonio, Texas and John Paul Stevens High School, Adams joins the Eagle program after leading Stevens to its deepest postseason run in over a decade, taking the Falcons to the University Intercollegiate League Region 4-6A Quarterfinals in 2020-21.

En route to a Region 4-6A Quarterfinal appearance, she claimed UIL District 29-6A Offensive Player of the Year honors after averaging a double-double (14.3 points and 10.0 rebounds) per game. Adams shot 41 percent from the field and 27 percent from three while adding 73 steals, 39 assists, and seven blocks.

As a junior, Adams earned her first career All-District honor, claiming UIL District 28-6A First Team honors after averaging 13.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while also adding 110 steals and 18 blocks during the 2019-20 season.

Over her career, Adams neared 1,000 career points during her three-year career, pouring in 924 points over 70 games, averaging 13.2 points per game. She also corralled 647 career boards, averaging 9.2 rebounds per game for her career.

Claude joins Morehead State following two seasons at Duke, appearing in 22 games during her time in a Blue Devils uniform, making three starts. During a shortened 2020-21 season, she appeared in all four of Duke's games, scoring in all three of the Blue Devils' non-conference contests, averaging 3.5 points per game.

Opening the 2020-21 campaign against Longwood, Claude posted career highs in points and rebounds, dropping seven points and collecting 10 rebounds in a career-high 28 minutes. Against Western Carolina, she was perfect from the floor, scoring five points on 2-of-2 shooting, including her lone career three-point field goal.

As a freshman, Claude appeared in 18 games with three starts for a Blue Devils squad that advanced to the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. On the season, she averaged 1.7 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, posting season-highs with six points and seven boards versus High Point and five points and eight rebounds against Troy.

A native of Fayetteville, Ga., Claude is the only player in Whitewater High School history with 1,000-plus points and rebounds and 250 blocked shots, doing so in a decorated prep career. She wrapped her high school career claiming the 2018-19 Georgia Athletic Coaches Association All-State 5A South Player of the Year honor, punctuating a long list of career accolades.

Adams and Claude join Morgan Browning, Alana Denson, Janay Rose, Terri Smith, and Paris Williams as members of the 2021-22 Morehead State signing class.
