MOREHEAD, Ky. –
After an up and down week, Morehead State Soccer returns home to take on the Evansville Purple Aces on Thursday at 6 pm ET. The Eagles are coming off their first home opening victory since 2016, and are looking to match that season's 2-0 home start.

Abby VanHoeve led the Eagles in scoring last week with her first career goal propelling Morehead State to a victory over North Alabama, with Colleen Swift and Katie Kiolbassa adding goals of their own throughout the week.

Morehead State will look to continue their defensive dominance at home, building off the second career shutout of Michelle Jerantowski. Despite the setback at Fort Wayne in their second game, head coach Warren Lipka is still optimistic about how his team has looked in the early season.

"I think our cohesiveness is good, our energy is good, our work rate is good. We just had a few miscues on Sunday afternoon, and Fort Wayne punished us for it but that's how we learn."

The Eagles are also expected to make some changes to their lineup ahead of their upcoming homestand in an effort to find their strongest starting lineup before conference play begins next month.

"We're going to try a couple different people in different spots, that's what I'm using this non-conference for. The girls know that we're trying some people in different spots, trying to find that one mix and a second group with a bit of consistency. These are the matches to do it," said Lipka.
