Shy Johnson Joins Eagle Family to Complete Women's Basketball Coaching Staff
MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Shy Johnson, a standout at Marshall collegiately and a United States Navy veteran, has joined the Morehead State women's basketball coaching staff as assistant coach.

Johnson is a Cincinnati, Ohio, native who is a recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Johnson, who attended Winton Woods High School, played collegiately at Shawnee State first before transferring to Marshall. Johnson earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Marshall in 2013.

At Shawnee State Johnson led the Lady Bears to a 31-1 record an an NAIA Sweet 16 appearance before enrolling at DePaul University. Johnson didn;t play at DePaul and then transferred to Marshall. Johnson led the Thundering Herd in free throw percentage as a junior and also established a career high in points with 19 against Morehead State.

Johnson served the United States in the Navy and participated in the Military Basketball Association, winning three gold medals and being named all-tournament.

Johnson also has coaching experience at Kings High School in Ohio and with the Midwest Takeover 15U AAU program. Johnson is a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
