MOREHEAD, Ky. – Nolan Piazza fired a third round 70 to propel himself to his second career top-5 finish as men's golf wrapped up at the Xavier Invitational Tuesday.
The Eagles carded rounds of 310-300-306—916 throughout the two-day event.
Piazza led the team with rounds of 74-71-70—215, and had particular success on par 5s, where he tied for the third lowest scoring average at 4.42. The Canadian native also carded an eagle on the eight hole of the second round.
Freshman
Logan Liles turned in a steady performance, shooting a 74-74-78—226, while fellow freshman
Gavin McKune showed flashes of strong play, including going three under par on the front nine in his final round.
Kyler Barton, also making his collegiate debut, led the team in pars throughout the tournament with 33.
Blake Evans rounded out the quintet, fashioning rounds of 84-83-78—245.
The Eagles return to the course in two weeks at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament tees off from the LPGA International Club.
