Volleyball Comes Up Short at Tennessee Tech, 3-1

MOREHEAD, Ky. --
The Morehead State volleyball team won the first set but then saw host Tennessee Tech claim the final three as the Eagles came up short at TTU, 3-1, Wednesday night in the only OVC match on the ledger.

The conference loss dipped Morehead State's record to 8-10 overall and 4-3 in OVC play and halted a nine-match winning streak over the Golden Eagles.

Game Notes
» Morehead State had three players in double figures in kills, including team-leader Maycie Welborn with 11. 
» Sydney Wyman and Abby Hulsman had 10 kills each with Wyman hitting a team-high .308
» Irene Wogenstahl registered a team-high eight blocks as the eagles had 10 team blocks in the match.
» Shea Hefner had a match-high two aces in the loss.
» Bridget Bessler recorded her seventh double-double of the season and third straight with 33 assists and 13 digs.
» MSU was held to an .097 total attack efficiency.
» Both teams committed nine service errors.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Eagles grabbed an early 2-1 lead and never let up. Morehead State did not lead by more than four the rest of the set but used 14 kills to stay in the lead.
SET 2 | Morehead State led early 3-1 but saw TTU take the advantage for good at 4-3. The set was tied 5-5 but Tech scored 13 of the next 17 points to take its biggest lead at 18-9.
SET 3 | With the Eagles leading 8-7, the host Golden Eagles rattled off a 10-3 run to grab the advantage. MSU did manage to climb back to within 22-17, but TTU scored three of the final four points. 
SET 4 | TTU closed the final set out strong against MSU. The Eagles led 16-13 but saw Tech score five of the next six to swing the momentum. The closest MSU got was 21-19.

Morehead State continues on an extended OVC road trip where the Eagles face league newcomer Little Rock on Friday and Saturday in the Arkansas State Capitol city.
