MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The No. 1 ranked shooting guard in Mississippi has committed to join the Morehead State men's basketball program, rounding out the most highly-ranked early signing period class in recent program history.
George Marshall, a 6-4Â guard from Jackson, Miss., was the top-ranked shooting guard in the Magnolia State and the No. 4 ranked overall player in the state from Forest Hill High School. He is attending Itawamba (Miss.) Community College this season before heading to the Bluegrass State to join head coach
Preston Spradlin's Eagles for the 2023-24 season.
"George is one of the most gifted scoring guards in the state of Mississippi and any level. He has great size and the ability to score at all three levels," said Spradlin. "His personality fits perfectly with the rest of this class as being young men of high character and competitiveness. George will gain valuable experience playing at the junior college level this season to prepare to be in impact player for us next season."
At Itawamba, Marshall already leads the Indians in scoring, averaging 17 points per game. He has scored more than 20 twice and is hitting better than 50 percent from the field.
For Forest Hill, Marshall posted averages of 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. He played for Team Thad AAU program, which competes in the Nike EYBL summer circuit.Â
