Eagles Continue Home Stretch with Saturday Matinee Against Presbyterian

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State women's basketball continues their five game home stand Saturday against Presbyterian.

The Eagles are coming off their first victory of the season, a 73-42 triumph over Spalding (Ky.) Sophie Benharouga added onto her hot start, scoring 16 points while pulling down nine rebounds and Veronica Charles posted her first career double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. 

The Morehead State defense was also on full display against the Golden Eagles, forcing Spalding into 27 turnovers, thanks in part to 16 steals. 

Presbyterian comes into Johnson Arena with a 2-3 record after dropping their previous two matchups against St. Thomas and Minnesota.  

Saturday's matchup is the second meeting between the two programs. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 PM and can be found on ESPN+ or listened to on the Eagle Sports Radio Network.

• Morehead State's 31 point victory over Spalding was the program's largest margin of victory since January 16, 2020, where the Eagles defeated Tennessee State 84-47. 

• Veronica Charles shined against Spalding, collecting her first career double-double and putting up career-high numbers in rebounds, assists, and steals. 

• The eight steals from Veronica Charles were the most by a Morehead State player in a game since December 15, 2020 and is the most from any OVC player this season. 

• Aina Subirats also had the best game of her career against the Golden Eagles, notching career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, field goals made, and three pointers. 

• Morehead State's 55 rebounds was the highest total from any OVC team this season. The Eagles are now third in the OVC in average rebounds per game with 36.4. 

• The Eagles also pulled down 24 offensive rebounds last game and now average 14 offensive boards per game; the most in the conference. 

• Crystal Corley is tied for third in the OVC in offensive rebounds with 2.4 per game and is tied for fifth in the conference in blocked shots per game with 1.0. 

• Veronica Charles has swiped 15 steals this season, which is the second most in the conference. Sandra Lin is close behind with 13 steals, placing her fourth in the conference. 

• The Eagles received a season-high 45 bench points last game and now average 26.8 points off the bench per game.
