MOREHEAD, Ky. -- A quartet of Morehead State Soccer athletes earned All-Ohio Valley Conference accolades as the league announced its postseason honors Thursday on the eve of the final weekend of the conference tournament.
Senior forward
Colleen Swift (Loveland, Ohio) earned a spot on the First-Team, becoming the first Eagle since Dani Wilson in 2018 to earn a first-team accolade. Junior forward
Nicole Fiantaco (Sterling Heights, Mich.) is a Second-Team honoree. Junior forward
Hadley Cytron (Creve Coeur, Mo.) and freshman goalkeeper
Erin Gibbs (Mesa, Ariz.) are on the All-Newcomer Team.
Swift is the 16th Eagle in program history (since 1998) to be named first-team. The forward scored three goals on seven shots on goal this season, helping Morehead State finish in third place - its highest placing since 2013. Swift had 16 total shots and led the team with two match-winning goals. Swift now has 10 career goals, the most of any active athlete on the team.
Fiantaco became a scoring threat for first-year head coach
Chris Fox's squad, tying for the team lead and ranking among OVC leaders with four goals. She also added three assists for 11 total points. Among her 10 shots on goal, four found the back of the net for a team-best .714 shot-on-goal percentage. She has six career goals now.
Gibbs moved into the net for the Eagles midway through the season and shined in her first collegiate season, finishing with a .071 goals against average on just six goals allowed in 765 minutes. She also made 44 saves, many of them acrobatic, in her nine matches in net. Her current goals against average would set a program single-season record.
Cyton, a transfer from Saint Louis University, proved to be a vital addition to the Eagles' new philosophy of success. She tied for the team lead with Fiantaco in goals with four and also led the team in assists with four for a team-high 12 points. She led the team in shots with 27 and scored the lone penalty-kick tally (in regulation time) this fall.
The third-seeded Eagles face second-seeded SIUE in the tournament final four on Friday at 8 p.m. ET at Tennessee Tech.
