MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State soccer completed its best season since 2014 Friday night. Unfortunately for the Eagles, they fell a match short of the OVC Championship contest as SIUE topped the Eagles 2-0 in the semifinals at the TTU Soccer Field.

Friday's match saw the Cougars' Mary Wessel score the first goal at 67:37 on a shot to the top of the net. With the Eagles pushing for the equalizer in the waning minutes, MSU pulled keeper
Erin Gibbs up on a corner kick. But, the Cougars took advantage at the other end, scoring on a counter attack to set the final margin at 2-0.
The Eagles had six shots, with
Sejla Podzic leading the way with two. Gibbs saved two shots.
In 855 minutes in her first collegiate season, Gibbs set the program single-season goals against average record at 0.84. She also had a save percentage of .852.
After some time off, Morehead State will be slated to return to action in the spring to get prepared for the 2023 season.
